Toddlearn® of Mandeville, LA came to be after Christy Chanson and her family relocated to St. Tammany Parish in the latter part of 2005. Christy, a native of St. Bernard Parish for 34 years, thought she had her family’s future all figured out until 8/29/05, when Hurricane Katrina changed everything and opened her eyes to a new future and adventure that would be stumbled upon in December of 2005. Christy, a public school teacher for 10 ½ years with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education had become unemployed, and finding a teaching position in an area that was flooded with educators was going to be a difficult task. Re-evaluating her situation and becoming a stay-at-home mother made her realize how much she longed to be teaching children. But how could she do that and still spend quality time with her own 3 children? It came to her in the mail through a professional teaching publication with listings for “educational opportunities for teachers”. She researched the website and there came her answer -Toddlearn®, a comprehensive, fun, & educationally based, developmentally age appropriate play program for parents and children to learn through play together. Christy knew that Toddlearn® was going to be the path she was supposed to be on and the new future for her family would be to reside in St. Tammany Parish.

Christy’s passion for teaching, experience in the school system, and ability to interact with parents and children in a positive & fun way will enhance the Toddlearn® program in Mandeville. Having this program where children and parents come together to learn while playing creates a bonding experience that the families of St. Tammany & surrounding parishes will appreciate for years to come.
